Joining Hands to Fight Crime: Promoting Anti-drug Messages Through Interactive Learning

Earlier this year, the Community Engagement Unit (CEU) was invited by the Sham Shui Po District Fight Crime Committee, Home Affairs Department - Sham Shui Po District Office, and Sham Shui Po Sports Association to take part in the "Fight Crime and Sports Carnival @Sham Shui Po District". Together with students and teachers from Youth College, CEU set up interactive game booths at the event to raise public awareness of crime prevention and anti-drug.

Under the guidance of teachers from the Design and Information Technology section, students from the Diploma of Vocational Education (Hotel Studies) of Youth College demonstrated their creativity by designing an electronic educational quiz game. The game placed participants in real-life scenarios where they had to make decisions between taking drugs or choosing a drug-free lifestyle. Youth College students guided participants through the activity in a light-hearted and interactive manner, explaining the severe health risks of abusing etomidate and promoting the importance of staying drug-free and embracing a healthy lifestyle.

The event received an enthusiastic response, attracting around 5,000 participants, including Sham Shui Po residents and young people. Many parents commended the quiz game for its clear and engaging content, which effectively taught children about the harmful effects of drugs, particularly the dangers of etomidate, while also highlighting the benefits of regular exercise. By integrating anti-drug messages into an interactive experience, the activity successfully enhanced the educational impact. The participating students from Youth College also expressed their enjoyment and sense of fulfilment, hoping that their electronic game could help integrate crime prevention and anti-drug messages into everyday life, contributing to the development of a safer and more harmonious community.
